Power supplies are the heart of a control cabinet and must meet high requirements for reliability, efficiency, and size. In addition, advanced features such as configuration options and communication capabilities make the Pro 2 ready for the ever increasing networking and digitalization demands, all while maximizing up-time.

Communicative and Reliable in Demanding Environments

WAGO’s line of Pro 2 Power Supplies, which range from 120 to 960 W, sets new industry communication and parameterization benchmarks. And with up to 96.3% efficiency, the devices have also set new standards for economical operation. This saves hard cash, especially when used in applications that run around the clock, 365 days a year – such as those in building automation. On top of that, the adjustable overload behavior, as well as the Top- and PowerBoost features, guarantee high system uptime.

The devices are now also available with an optional protective coating for even greater resistance to dirt, moisture and corrosion, e.g., by harmful gases according to the ISA-71.04 Class G3 standard. This is particularly beneficial in applications for utilities and disposal companies, as well as those in process technology. Snap-on type communication modules for IO-Link (and coming soon for Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP), enable constant communication and intelligent monitoring. The modules also allow parameterization for both commissioning and maintenance via the PLC or building automation system, bypassing expensive on-site service.

What are the advantages to using busbars in your panels?

The busbar is a very efficient part in the electrical panel that collects and transmits electrical energy as a conductor.  This conductor can pass very large currents.

Busbar allows for: 

  •    -   Reductions in the use of space relative to the panel and enclosure           (reduction in the amount of wiring). So, more equipment and parts             can be used in a panel.
  •    -   Easy troubleshooting in the event of switchgear interruption or                   failure.
  •    -   Time savings during both installation, maintenance, or upgrades               (ex.busbars are mostly used for branching inside panels, and,                   branching will be done by holes and bolts without using terminals).
  •    -   Integration of supplemental panel or enclosure elements to enhance or augment performance
  •    -   High electrical and mechanical strength. They last longer and don’t require regular replacement. They distribute power             more efficiently. Thus, reducing energy consumption.
  •    -   They’re also easily adaptable for renewable energy integration while offering extreme versatility for easy consumption                for many purposes.

Daisy chaining refers to a wiring scheme in which several devices, such as power supplies, are connected directly in series. This type of wiring is also referred to as "looping through". The English term “Daisy Chaining” is used colloquially, since the structure is vaguely reminiscent of a daisy chain. The principle can be used both to achieve a higher total current and to transmit analog signals or digital data.

If the wiring of a power supply system is planned according to this principle, it is not wired in a star configuration. Instead, the current is looped through to the load in a linear or ring-shaped manner on one line.
